The Pacific Insurance Berhad

 


The Pacific Insurance Berhad has its roots going back to the 1950s when it was the Malayan business arm of The Netherlands Insurance Company, then the 12th largest insurance company in the world. The local operations were reconstituted in 1984 into a local insurance company bearing the name, The Netherlands Insurance (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd. In 1994, The Pacific Bank Bhd (now known as PacificMas Berhad) acquired 70% of the Company’s equity and changed its name to The Pacific Netherlands Insurance Berhad. In 1995, The Pacific Insurance Berhad was adopted when the Company became a wholly-owned subsidiary of PacificMas Berhad.

On 24th March 2011, Fairfax Asia Limited acquired 100% of the equity of The Pacific Insurance Berhad, and Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited of Canada became the ultimate holding company. Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited is based in Toronto and is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange. The Pacific Insurance Berhad offers all classes of general insurance and is known for being a pioneer and a quality provider of medical insurance. Among general insurance companies in Malaysia, The Pacific Insurance Berhad was ranked as one of the largest medical insurance provider and the largest individual medical insurance provider in Quarter 3 2010.

The Claim Procedures

The procedures are intended to be a ready reference for straightforward claims for the various classes of insurance. If there should be any individual claim which do not readily align with the procedures, please communicate with The Pacific Insurance immediately.

In all claims handling procedure, the claimant must:

• Act with all reasonable speed in dealing with the loss or damage.
• Take all reasonable practical measures to avoid or diminish the loss or damage.
• Preserve rights of action of recovery against third party who may be responsible for the loss or damage.

Failing to do so will prejudice his/her rights to claim under the insurance policy due to breach of policy condition which will entitled Insurer to repudiate all liabilities may arise out of the accident or delay the settlement of the claim.
